Medical Marijuana Isn't Accessible in All 50 States
If you simply search for marijuana news this week or if you follow marijuana news, you can easily find dozens of articles that lead you to believe that the war on medical marijuana is over. Some even go as far as leading you to believe that medical marijuana is now legal in all 50 states.I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we love to make sure that people know the truth.
Medical marijuana is NOT legal in all 50 states despite what you may have read. Medical marijuana is legal in 23 states under strict and specific regulations and guidelines and qualifications. The fight for legalization of medical and recreational marijuana in the United States is as much needed now if not more needed today than ever before.
The reason you see news stories such as this is because, in the recent spending bill that was passed by the United States Congress, there is a section of the article that protects medical marijuana businesses. This section protects marijuana businesses that are operating in legal medical marijuana industries from being raided by federal employees. This amendment is known as the Rohrbacher Farr amendment.
What this amendment does do is allows States to make their own decisions surrounding legalizing medical marijuana without the fear of federal persecution. Unfortunately, this amendment has been in place since 2014, and medical marijuana establishments operating within the legal regulations of their state have still been raided.
This may or may not lead to more states taking steps to legalize and join together. This is what needs to happen for marijuana prohibition to come to an end. It is a small victory and sheds some hope for medical marijuana in the future, but it is far from a victory worth celebrating.
The fight to legalize marijuana is still strong and needs your support now more than ever! A single seed can tip the scale.Be the seed that helps to tip the scales of injustice. Stand up against prohibition but first and foremost stay educated on the FACTS. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
